DAY 1

Plants

We are going to start off with a focus on plants. The plant kingdom is incredibly diverse! Plants are found everywhere and they’re so accessible, they could be the group most commonly represented in our nature journals. Let’s explore these amazing life forms today.

DAY 2

Animals

Animals are all around us, and they come in literally every shape and size. Invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals…Let’s dive deeper into this wondrous kingdom of living creatures and see what we find!

Day 3

FungI

Fungi is a large and varied kingdom of organisms which include fungi that produce mushrooms, yeasts, mould and so much more! Did you know that lichen is also part fungi? It’s fungi and algae - living in symbiosis. Today we will find out more about fascinating fungi.

Day 4

Nature Finds

When you’re out walking in nature, do you find yourself filling your pockets or backpack with little treasures: nuts, seeds, pods, feathers or interesting leaves? Some people call these things pocket hitchhikers. Let’s take a closer look at your collection and celebrate these nature treasures today.

DAY 5

Landscapes

We’ve been focusing on small sections of nature. Today we’re stepping back and taking a wider view, by looking at landscapes. What features do you see in the surroundings near you? Let’s investigate nature’s scenery.

DAY 6

skies

Skies

Wherever we are, we always have the sky! It can be coloured pink during sunset, dark and stormy or bright, clear blue. Clouds delight us with their patterns, and the night sky offers up infinite space. So, what do you know about the sky?

DAY 7

Ecosystems

An ecosystem is a community of different organisms living together in one area. They can be vast, like a complex rain forest, right down to a tiny community on a log, or even a tuft of grass. These ecological colonies are vital to our planet, and truly fascinating for journalers!
